Chios Gum Mastic (also known as Mastiha) is the resinous material obtained from the Pistacia lentiscus tree, grown on the island of Chios in Greece, where it has traditionally been used as a healthy food for the gastrointestinal tract.*
Authentic Chios mastiha provided by the Chios Mastiha Growers Association (CMGA).
Pistacia lentiscus var. Chia (Resin)
How it works:
• Mastic Gum (Pistacia lentiscus): A resin rich in phenolic compounds that supports digestive health and antioxidant defense.*
• Gastrointestinal Support: In a double-blind trial, 1 gram daily for two weeks promoted duodenal tissue health beyond the upper digestive tract.*[1]
• Microbial Balance: A randomized controlled trial found that 1,050 mg daily over two weeks supported microbial harmony in the digestive tract.*[2]
• Digestive Motility: Supplementation with 500 mg twice daily (1 gram total) enhanced healthy digestive transit in a clinical study.*[3]
• Immune & Mucosal Health: Higher doses (2.2 grams per day) have shown favorable effects on the gastrointestinal immune environment.*[4]
• Cardiovascular Function: Clinical trials demonstrated that 1–2 grams daily supported vascular health and maintained cardiovascular biomarkers within normal ranges.*[5,6]
